Tor Dike linear earthwork

Circular, strenuous, hilly walk climbing rocky terraces & stiles to Old Cote Moor summit. Views across the Dales. Along the River Wharfe otters & kingfishers can be seen. Dogs welcome under close control. Potential livestock & ground nesting birds.

An easy, flat, linear, well-signed route that follows the River Wharfe as it winds its way through fields and farmland & between historic dry-stone walls. Look out for kingfishers, trout & other wildlife. Dogs are welcome & should be kept under control.

This moderate circular trail heads up across the hillside and over glaciated valleys, visiting villages and offering views across the Yorkshire Dales. It also offers the chance to spot a variety of local wildlife, including birds, bats, and butterflies.

The route was inspired by the indomitable Lady Anne Clifford, who owned vast estates in the old county of Westmorland during the seventeenth century. The route is in the area she traveled and highlights a several castles she renovated.
