Gilpinpark Plantation

An elevated walk along Windermere's undeveloped western side. Dramatic viewing point at Low Blind How, where a gap in the wall leads to a crag with views of the lake, islands & Troutbeck fells. Some steep slopes, but once on the Heights its generally flat

A wonderful lakeshore walk through woodland & parkland. The low-level linear route features views of the islands of Windermere, archaeology & the Victorian Gothic Wray Castle. Some short steep sections on tarmac, grass & gravel tracks.

Follow this walk to Townend, a 17th-century farmhouse in Troutbeck, which provides an insight into the local area. Views of the fells, a church with stained glass windows by Sir E. Burne-Jones & W. Morris. A challenging alternate return option available.

A short but steep climb taking you up to a variety of impressive views over Windermere & the stunning central fells of the Lake District, with plenty of resting places & potential picnic sites along the way. Steep in places, mostly roads & surfaced paths
